Back Pain Muscle Spasms and Dealing With The Back Pain

Limit your lifting and heaving to smaller and lighter items to protect your back.

Dealing With Painful Muscle Spasms

If you cannot lie down, try to take deep breathes and gently massage your aching muscles in a circular motion. You may also stretch your muscles gently to ease the pain.

Your muscles will feel sore with the next 48 to 72 hours after you experience intense back pain muscle spasms. To ease the soreness and the possible swelling in your muscles, apply gentle heat to the affected area every four hours. Heat therapy is very effective when it comes to relieving soreness and swelling brought about by muscle spasms.

Resting and relaxing will help the muscle to ‘loosen’ as it is in a tight position when it spasms. It is your brain telling your body to take it steady and the muscle grips so as not to cause more injury. It sounds like your body is fighting with you, but it is protecting you believe it or not.
